Head Light Base
The world of fabrication is interesting to say the least and the challenge is most rewarding. Some of the strangest time saving ideas come to mind like the headlite base adjusting mounts for a 28 INT truck we were building. As seen we cut out the top of an argon welding tank protection cap. Using a hole saw the correct size Kenny simply cut out the lids of two extra ones we had in the shop.
As seen they fit the fender bases well and will work excellent for our foundation.
He drilled them out and installed 7/16 cap head bolts and welded them to the top side which is hidden. He then ran a bead of weld around the outer edge where the caps meet the round spacers and headlite flanges of which were all fabricated beforehand from a picture of the originals that were mangled and bent.
A close up shows the mounting holes where the flanges will attach to the headlite rings using rivet head screws for an original look but removable in order to paint and detail them better then they were originally. The nuts will be hidden on the inside behind the lenses.
Blasted up clean and ready for zinc chromate.
Installed on the head light they are ready to mount up and adjust for fit!
Yes Sir! they look original but are much stronger and are now ready to disassemble, body work and paint.
