1973 Corvette - Frame Prep
Now that we have the body off the frame we can start removing the drive train and get on with the Corvette frame restoration.
Jack removes the engine to start the frame prep and restoration process.
We mount all of our frames to rotators to make time during the media blasting, body work and prep phases. We also measure and inspect each frame for any damage that needs to be repaired before refinishing.
Mike is blasting away as seen she is white metal clean.
Cleaned front to back. We will now repair any unwanted pits or gouges from years of use at this time before priming.
We smoothed all the areas and put high build primer on the frame. We bagged it for cleanliness until we are ready to paint.
Getting her ready to paint we caulk some of the seams which keeps any rust from developing between the two overlapping sections if she ever gets in a rain storm and traps water inside. A thin undetectable bead is applied.
Satin black as per the original G.M. system
Smooth with no dry spots is the way to go. Getting this Corvette restoration one step closer to DONE!
