1973 Corvette - Bumper
As is our standard practice in Corvette restoration all bumpers are stripped to bare metal, straightened then copper plated and sanded in copper up to 320 grit. Then plated and blocked some more until they are eventually polished to a mirror copper finish. Then nickle and chrome are applied.
We have tack welded this bumper to the bumper bench to keep it from moving. This gives us an extra pair of hands during hammer and filing.
We finish off the base metal with 80- 120 grit smooth and then the first coats of copper are applied.
The front nose piece was switched out to a fiberglass unit instead of the plastic wavy system GM put in it.
We taped off the rear end to find a center line and then we installed the rear bumpers and aligned them
The bumpers look great, line up and are ready for final finish "see finish car pictures of the rear end."
