1973 Corvette - Body Prep
After all the interior, body panels and hardware have been disassembled from the Corvette we installed body brace supports to the floor and through the firewall to keep the body from flexing, Fiberglass cars and any vehicle that has a front clip permanently attached to the car needs to have this done.
Up and away the body goes with our mobile A-frame body picker tool.
Jeff gets in to the act by pressure washing all the oils away from the body. Using a large nozzle to keep the pressure from damaging the fiberglass is crucial.
We begin with using plastic media to strip the paint down to the gel coat.
With Corvette restoration use the right stuff to make the best time.
As seen little remnants of the red paint remain so we can use a sander with 80 grit to finish off the stripping process to eliminate any cut throughs of the orig gel coat. This also helps to inspect the body to locate the hundreds of cracks we encountered. Each one can then be properly repaired.
