1972 Firebird - Engine Transmission
In goes the 400 Pontiac and Turbo trans for fitting during the fabrication and mock up stage. A mild Resto Mod with a bit of G-Machine for handling is what we are shooting for in this " Black Bird".
Once the fabrication was done we sent it off to the Master of all Pontiac Motors, Jim Butler. 500 plus horses on pump gas and a single carb to shake your boot-y !
The motor has been dynoed so no need to pre-start it. We jump in to the cosmetic part of the motor. We prep our engines to look good and stand the test of time. Cast iron, aluminum parts cleaned to the Max promotes longevity.
Many wire wheels and air tools are used to perform this part of the build.
Once she is prepped we spray the block and heads with Zinc Chromate 500 degree primer, Adhesion beyond comparison. Then apply 2 coats of black urethane to a wet gloss.
Assembly time as she is coming together with our Black and Satin aluminum look. Sorry Pontiac fans but this Bird is all Black no blue including the engine bay, body and interior.
Same goes for the modified Turbo tranny. Stripped to bare aluminum.
Wire wheeled and prepped for primer and paint.
Zinc chromate is applied now the gloss black.
