1971 Wagon - Upholstery
The Wagon is filled with seats, We decided on an SS Chevelle style interior in Black. We disassembled the seats and blasted then primed all components.
New foam was installed on all. We shaved where needed to get the upholstery skin tight.
Springs if needed were replaced.
Beefed up then foam installed on bottoms as well.
Bucket SS seats in a Wagon? Cool
Bottoms about ready.
All the door panels were fabbed from scratch, then fitted with the holes punched for all the accessories.
Marked off like an SS Chevelle ready for some sewing.
Sewn and striped just like down town. SS emblems added.
We ordered some headrests from a salvage yard to get some of the hardware associated with them.
The center seat was in need of head rests like the front bucket seats but they are too large and do not fit well so we will modify as we are building the seat. In fact we will add a third head rest in the center so mega people will have some comfort.
Initial fit shows a three headed monster with bad fit but a good concept so lets get started.
Foamed up and pre fitted with spacing, some shaving is needed.
Glue some more foam, shave a bit, add here etc.
Headrests covered and looking good
As seen we had to get the sliders installed, so metal work was needed to get this done. We changed them to single sliders instead of the typical twin round shafts.
Our wagon never had the third seat option installed from the factory so we had to purchase one from a salvage yard. Rough or what?
Installed in the car checking then adjusting and ready to cover.
New foam start from scratch.
Mark off the SS style.
New boards for support
Bottom covered
Looking good.
Last but not least the back side of the rear seat when folded down shows newly covered in carpet and vinyl edges.
3rd seat foot well needs upholstered so we chose some stretch carpet to make all the twists and turns.
Starting to work it in place. Then we trim it to a more manageable size.
3M super adhesive sprayed out and we are ready.
Seat Upholstery
Fold down seat was upholstered too.
Carpet time, all lines and wires were run then Dyna mat was put down along side all of the areas.
Carpet being pre fitted.
Seat belt retractors bolted in.
Mega relief cuts were needed in order to pull and mold carpet in to place. These slices will be covered by the seat.
A bit of steam work and we are on our way.
Dolly weights to hold the corners while the glue dries.
Interior trim pieces.
