1971 Wagon - Trim Fit
We try and find original NOS trim parts when available and even they require tweaking as seen the wheel well trim sticks out past the molding.
Same problem for both sides of the car so we sliced the edges and tweaked out the bottom qters to allow the trim time to make the transition.
Welded up the cuts.
Ground smooth and see for yourself. It takes many more hours to build a car the way we do it compared to quick builds where details like this are overlooked.
All plated parts once fitted and chromed receive special epoxy primers and clears to get adhesion where they require painting.
Satin black in this case.
Headlight trim rings get blacked out for a meaner look. Scuffed to create adhesion.
Zinc Chromate sticks to everything.
Blacked out.
Ready to install.
SS emblems get painted black centers.
A bit of detailing and they are ready to be installed.
Tail gate moldings get masked off for satin black centers.
