1971 Wagon - Console

Our Wagon has been equipped with a 6 speed trans so a console has to be custom made for the car. One that will line up with the shifter location and fit between the seats and look sweet. Here we have a mock up we are satisfied with.

Under the console you can see the clearance hump we had to fab to clear all the linkage associated with a 6 speed shifter.

We decided to add a one inch lip to the top edge of the console for a recessed to look. As seen she is starting to take shape.

We have the console centered on the trans tunnel between the seats and we added a step out or joggle to allow the shifter a base pad.

We mocked up a shifter boot and things are looking good.

Sitting on the floor she looks just fine.

We also mounted side speakers in the console.

We inserted a wood spacer between the speakers down the center of the console to keep the crossovers and speakers sound from interfering with one another.

Time to mock up the console center section

Then we applied a two tone carpet/vinly cover for it with speaker materials over the side speaker.
