Wagon Build Photos
This 1971 Chevelle Wagon came to us with a lot of potential. We are going to rebuild this car completely with a 502 big block, electronic fuel injection, 6 speed manual trans, 3 inch exhaust, suspension upgrades, interior upgrades to bucket seats and a 3 headed headrest in the center seat, sub woofer system etc. "The Flyin Purple People Seater". Luxury with a jolt!
Someone had the right idea with the SS concept but the quality is way off. We will take care of that on this Muscle Cars' restoration.
Rear angle shot shows a wagon ready for transformation. Check out the tow hitch. No more will she tow something behind her.
The tailgate brackets were tweaked and binding in many areas and in need of total rebuild.
Interior fold down has seen better days and the brown interior is not the best shade.
Old headliner full of memories scarred and tattered.
Gauges and wiring all old and needing replaced.
SS badges were put on proudly at one time but crooked.
Bench seat will be replaced with Original style SS Buckets to make room for a six speed tranny and shifter with a custom console.
Overall a great candidate for a custom Wagon.
Two tone brown will give way to all black with SS trim.
Spare tire and gas tank well covers showing sun fade bad.
Taking her apart bit by bit.
Disassembled down to the last clip.
Steam clean to get her ready for stripper.
The old enamel curls right up on the old Beast.
Mike has her stripped down pretty good.
Bare metal every where. Time to pull the body.
Body comes off so we can bolt her to a rotator and do the underside.
Underside is rough grease and oil since 1971
Frame same grimy.
Frame blasted and in primer waiting for a cleaned up rust free repaired body.
