69 Cougar - A/C
When installing an A/C box you must choose the proper location to provide ample room for the flex ducts to make it to the defrosters without putting tight bends on them and restricting the flow. The wiper motor needs to be accessible if it is on the fire wall above the A/C. As seen we have ample room on this Cat so we installed a bracket to hang a larger diameter hook and support the weight at the back of the unit.
On the front we simply took 16 gauge straps and supported the outer corners and one in the center where the old factory supports were.
A close up shows the duct work having ample room on top to flex the ducts and attach the defroster by hand.
This is the passenger side and as seen we are very close but we are still able to install ducting.
We also fabricated a small hook on to the bracket at the corner when it was fabricated as this will keep the bracket from swiveling.
The ducts are in place and we have more then enough room to attach the center dash ducts to cool the occupants and the side dash vents including the defroster at the very back is installed.
Being careful to keep the ducting off sharp edges which will keep from cutting through during driving when vibration takes place.
