1966 Mustang - Drain Cowl
Mustang owners are always trying to figure out why water keeps dripping on to the floor of their car. The rain or water from washing goes through the drain holes below the wind shield and then it flows over to the sides of the car and hits this vent wall, but over time it gets holes in it and the only way to repair it is remove the drain cowl. If you remove the drain cowl you " MUST " brace the car up as it is part of the strength of the front end or it will twist the body.
On this Mustang both sides are gone.
As seen the tubing to brace the Mustang and hold it all in place was installed before we cut out the metal.
Media blasted clean all remaining areas.
Zinc chromate was then applied.
We fit the new repro parts. Once we are happy we remove and blast/prime these before welding them in.
Epoxy primed and ready for install.
New salvage yard drain cowl has also been prepped for install.
We also applied scotch weld epoxy for 100 years of life time use, just in case the customer washes the Mustang to death and keeps the area wet all the time.
All welded in and ground smooth she is ready for media blasting all the weld areas and re priming before paint. Another step done for this 1966 Mustang Restoration project!
