1966 442 Oldsmobile - Start Clean Up

The Oldsmobile 442 presents it self well from 20-30 foot away but up close she is wearing.

Many body panels were tweaked but she is pretty solid from a rust stand point.

White vinyl top will be changed to a Black cloth top so her name is now "Snow White".

We stripped the body down and mounted it to a rotator. The underside floor is dirty with thick under coat and very greasy. We use special oscillating tools to strip the car free of all the undercoat.

We coated the interior and exterior floor with aircraft stripper to remove the final remnants.

The trunk floor is thin and will need replacing.

Fire wall is being stripped to bare metal also.

After clean up, we media blasted the body white metal clean with virgin aluminum oxide before epoxy priming.

Same goes for the underside.

A few pin holes in the drain cowl box will need attention.

Next we wire wheel all the caulk from the overlap seams of the trunk lid, doors and body.

For this Muscle Car we needed another hood as the original one was tweaked.

Foam has been placed under the hood to protect it from possible pressure dents when flipped over to strip the back side.

White metal clean and no caffeine.

Epoxy primed.

Hood white metal blasted also.

Epoxy primed with dp-50

Doors just as nice.

Fenders get the treatment too. Another part of the Oldsmobile 442 restoration process completed! She's gonna be one fine Muscle Car!
