1966 442 - Vent Window
Vent windows are tough to rebuild but we have them down to a science. Each piece is restored then meticulously assembled. Here the weather strip channels are refurbished where the glass slides up and down inside the door.
The outer frames are stripped of all the old chrome then metal finished and gapped to accept the rubber and glass thickness, They are then re plated in copper. At that time she is then sanded to remove all the cosmetic flaws then polished like a copper mirror and then nickel and chrome plated. Now we can start the assembly.
Taped up to be protected as they will be man handled.
Special strips of masticated rubber are inserted over the glass then Lubricated to slide in to the channel. Then we carefully razor blade away the unwanted rubber from the glass.
Looking good and ready to de mask and install in to the car.
