1966 442 - Mechanical Build
Thousands of parts are restored on a complete project. Something as simple as transmisson shift linkage needs to be done also. Rusty and nicked up we need to get this linkage in shape. We use various cleaning tanks, scotch brite conditioning discs and different media such as glass bead and aluminum oxide.
Once we have them cleaned up we cad plate all the items then clear coat with an undetectable coating to preserve each part.
The same goes for the shifter base where the linkage is attached to.
Ball studs, clamps etc.
The original distributor has over 100 K miles and 40 plus years of wear and tear, so it needs a complete rebuild.
Rebuilt and detailed she is looking good.
Wiper motors need love too and this one needs a lot of tender loving care.
Love has been administered as she has come alive.
More linkage was done to a high level.
Drag link and tie rod ends all detailed.
The 4 speed tranny was rebuilt with every gear and part inspected for replacement or re-use. We then assembled and detailed in and out. Date coded too.
The U joints were detailed for the drive shaft and are also ready.
The door hinges were cleaned up, media blasted and are ready with new bushings and pins awaiting assembly.
Once assembled we will paint them with body color after zinc chromate adhesion primer was applied.
The internal window crank mechanisms are cleaned, bushings changed out and lubed to allow side glass to raise up and down smoothly.
