1965 Corvair - Interior
Original rear seat back section needed much work as the springs were very rusty from the water constantly coming in and soaking from the hole riddled Convertible top.
To the left is the spring system awaiting rebuild, to the right is the bottom seat section which we are replacing with an all foam section.
Being that we are building a complete custom interior for this Corvair there are some preliminary things to check. The original rear seat was wasted so we are building a new bottom section in hi-density foam. Here Jeff is checking the height to see past the bucket seats and out the front windshield. All appears great so lets build.
Rear seat back was recovered in black stretch rite materials to support the back of the seat and hold all the springs intact.
Ready to go.
Lay it out with Customer style and approval.
Height is good, seat back thickness is right and angled correctly so it is time to upholster.
After blasting and repairing the springs we covered the rear seat with our new materials and are about ready to install.
Front seats are original Chrysler Sebring seats. We will be rebuilding them and eliminating the separate headrest and making it a one piece looking seat.
Way power seat mechanism / base fully built and ready after testing.
A lot of work went in to this seat but as seen it looks great.
Back side has a pouch with the two tone theme.
Door panels laid out per customer design.
New ABS boards were fabricated.
The clips were recessed and taped off and the arm rests were also fitted.
Qter panels done also.
First door panel looks good and qter panel Convertible top side panels are coming together.
Same goes for the rear seat arm rest qter panel covers.
Coming along she is looking good.
Dash pad was originally metal so we stripped it, primed and ready for a nice cover.
Dash pad, kick panels etc.
Dash cover came out nice with matching shade on metal dash panels.
Time to run the wiring behind the dash.
Control knobs next.
Remaining wiring to go in to the car.
Seat belt electrical system, stereo speakers all run under the console/floor.
Next comes the dyna-mat insulation.
Done and looking great. Aluminum tape on all seams to protect.
Test speakers and install the stereo.
Amp wires for sound system under the seat.
Radio was tested and working great.
Dash panel looks and works excellent.
Carpet was then formed with the foam under-layment installed first.
