1965 Corvair - Control Arms
The Corvairs original suspension was obviously in need of rebuilding and as seen very greasy and grimy.
Jack pulled the springs and started to log info for the rebuild.
Upper control arms shafts just had the rubber burned out of them. This makes it easy to cut away the old bushing sleeves.
After we removed the control arm shafts we dipped them in our hot tank and are ready to remove the old ball joints.
We drill out the old rivets and start the process.
Over to the blast cabinet and they are white metal clean.
Zinc chromate goes on first for the ultimate adhesion.
Satin black shade as per original.
The new parts are prepped and ready for final assembly.
Looking good in the neighborhood. We pressed in the new bushings, installed the new ball joints and we are ready.
Same treatment on the disc brake upgrades. Details make the difference.
Calipers installed and ready to mount.
Back side of the spindle and caliper assembly.
Rod ends are also rebuilt and detailed.
Put it all together as an assembly and we are ready about ready.
The coil springs were compressed and installed as the last step before installing the unit in to the car.
