1965 Corvair - Assembly
Many components are pre assembled to allow the main assembly to go as smooth as possible. As seen Eric slides the front suspension system in place to bolt it up.
Nice and clean, she is coming together.
The engine is detailed and will be installed from underneath up in to the car.
After the engine was installed the rear suspension went in.
Dash cover, stainless trim, she is coming along.
The Convertible top catches and mirror brackets are still in copper because we have to install them on top of the newly polished header trim then fit the top. A bit of filing, trimming and testing of the convertible top and they will be ready for nickel and chrome.
As seen we had to trim them to fit better. Copper builds up on the back side edges more then the main surface and this affects the fit.
Vent windows are now polished and plated so it is time for new glass to be installed.
Taped off for protection during assembly.
She is looking good and all that is left is the lever assembly to be installed.
Anti seize was applied on all pivot points as this promotes ease of use and longevity.
Ready to install in the door.
The steering wheel is being assembled including the horn and other parts etc.
A spacer between the wheel and column is required.
Door glass with rebuilt channels and new materials for NOS glass are ready.
We use special rubber to make gaskets. Eric is ready to mark it then trim.
Once the part is pre fitted, he slightly scores it then removes and final trims the gasket for a perfect fit.
Dead on is what we do!!!
Testing the electrical system.
Dyna mat was installed and then custom carpet was put in. Cut outs were sliced in with wire locations for console, stereo, seat belt retractors etc.
4 wheel alignment for true and straight handling at hi-speed.
CV top is ready to detail after fitting latches previously.
All is well. Time to proceed.
