57 Chevy - Radiator Refinish

A new big tube Griffin radiator was installed but needs refinishing. The satin look was chosen so we mask off the fins and we are ready for action.

Eric scuffs the aluminum with 180 grit in one direction for a satin look.

Same goes for the gas tank. No polished look here cause "satin is sweet". Satin appearance also hides all the ripples associated with a gas tanks overall design as they have many welds holding baffles inside to keep the fuel from sloshing around and these welds can be unsightly.

The gas tank supports also get done to match.

Stainless is hard so we use power sanders to get it 85 % satinized.

Looks good, A few coats of bare metal satin clear for no finger print smudge appearance and we are ready.

We also installed a hidden door in the trunk for access to the internal fuel pump with out removing the gas tank.
