57 Chevy - Engine
The engine is a crate motor G.M. 350. We added a fuel injection system with a plenum that resembles an original 57 Fuelie car, although the newer technology out performs an orig 57 system by a long shot.
Eric starts by cleaning all the entrance holes in the engine for adhesion to tape off during removal of the paint and rust.
All taped off and protected including the spark plug holes.
Every entrance port or opening must be masked off as we use high speed tools with wire wheels to remove factory paint and rust.
As seen we have the cast iron wire wheeled to a shiny finish. We then spray wash it down using a brush and solvent to remove all the oil residues from the engine building process. The dirty tape was then removed and new tape was applied to keep the primer and paint from entering.
The block was then sprayed with zinc chromate primer.
We then installed the oil pan and timing cover which was blocked and smoothed beforehand.
Eric takes the ribbed plenum cover we fabricated and blocks down the ridges for the look we are after.
We then clear coat it with a high heat satin clear designed for aluminum and we are on our way.
Coming together she looks great.
The engine is being assembled and taking on her personalty as each part gets attached. NOSTALGIC or what!
The Oil breather / filler looks cool on the orig style covers
The engine takes on a nostalgia look as was the desire of the customer. Dale H.
The moon breathers, old style fuel injection plenum combined with the cast iron exhaust finish it off nice.
Billet master cylinder matches the plenum cover for the old school touch.
We sat her down in to the frame and she looks right at home. Engine is in and looking good.
