1936 Truck - Leaf Spring
The 1.5 ton leafs are heavy duty with 20 individual pieces counting the " helper" springs that were factory installed.
Rusted busted and crusted. Man I have been fighting rust for 43 years as I started when I was 7 in my fathers shop and I am 50 now. You could say I know how to deal with rust and beat it substantially .
Jack soaked up the springs with PB blasters weeks ago to assist in the disassembly.
Each leaf was dipped, blasted and we are now coating just the surface areas that are seen when assembled. The glaze was applied to fill scarring pits. A very thin coat.
Hi build primer sanded until ready.
Factory shackles get honed out to receive bushings.
Honed and ready for fitting.
Slides in nice
Before and after blasting.
Zinc chromate primed all related parts.
Laid out and ready for assembly.
Stacked and ready to be assembled by Jack aka "capitan".
You need an engine hoist to fit these things, talk about heavy.
