1928 International Truck - Engine Preparation
Greasy, grimy, rusty and wasted in need of total restoration. What more can we say?
The Engine was prepped before painting, as seen shiny cast iron with all oils removed before hi-heat primers were applied. This is the only way to get longevity on the refinishing of the engine and transmission.
A close up of the other side shows the 70 plus year old cast iron has been cleaned to the maximum.
Painted then polished, the shifter is about ready to install.
The shifter was rebuilt, refinished then primed and sanded to get ready for black paint as per orig specs.
As seen we fitted the door handle down to the original copper coating for a razor blade gap.
The hood latches were rough and the springs actually had too much tension which tends to pull the hood down too tight so we disassembled them and relieved the spring tension a bit before rebuilding.
Same goes for the emergency brake, disassemble, rebuild then re-plate with nickel and install.
All the teeth on the clutch and brake pedal were wore off so we re- sliced the grooves to make look new.
We built an entire new gas tank from stainless steel as the old carbon steel unit was in sad shape.
Every chassis component was rebuilt and tweaked to perfection then painted the original international chassis red.
